@whiskeyify I knew it, owners couldn’t keep on abusing their customers and serves them right. I hope you learn from that poor example of theirs and do the right thing after all the customer is always right, a motto many businesses don’t want to follow anymore but there are exceptions. Lets hope yours will be one of them. Good luck.

@vrpcworld They went out of business….I’m trying to setup my own shop and do things right. I want to have a business people can come to and get honest work done at a reasonable price.

@whiskeyify Thank God the people you worked for are not the rule but the exception (I Think?). Most likely those people are out of business and maybe in debt for their dealings, one can only hope so anyway. When presented with a problem in repairs, troubleshooting in a logical fashion should always be on the minds of a good tech and never overlook the stupid small details that can and will cause a tech to overlook the cause. Guessing is for whimps and wannabes.

@PCSURGEONS1 I don’t understand it either. I know Best Buy in los angeles is charging $199 to do a virus clean-up, why are people willing to spend that? Our shop prices are much less than the Big Box stores. I see the same thing, you go into Fry’s Electronics and see a long line at the computer repair dept.

@whiskeyify Yes, that is what I’m saying… they are fooled into believing it… but how do businesses like me that charge 1/2 what they charge not have the word spread like wild fire???? I know of several good honest businesses in my area that do great work for a fraction of the cost of Big Box Stores, yet again, the Big Boxes always have a line out the door… It can’t be their guarantee, because I/we match that… I just don’t get it… amazing really…

@PCSURGEONS1 I agree, but I think the public is fooled into believing that the Big Box Stores will have good techs and service. I used to work and manage a small shop with 3 people. In a small business you get to talk to the tech who did the repair and if there’s a problem you can always ask to speak directly to the owner.

I used to work in a electronic repair shop….computers and tv’s. I saw the owner and other techs do a lot of dishonest stuff. Before that I worked an a telecommunications tech with AT&T. The first rule of troubleshooting is just looking for the problem. They should have looked inside for any loose cables etc. these guys should be thrown out onto the street.

Again I think it’s wrong to take advantage of any person rich or poor as a matter of principal and your moral beliefs if any exists. As a christian I could not.

I would do it for free because its the right thing to do BUT, if it was a rich guy in a jaguar or bentley then I would for sure charge him something if I needed the cash ^_^

Still true (kinda of) today especially with large retail electronic stores that sell PC’s hiring teen wanta bees to save salary cost payments to REAL TALENTED Techs with a conscious.

I own a computer business, and I think it’s terrible that shops do this… I’ve been saying for years that Best Buy and the “Big Box” stores are thieves. Yet, everytime I walk into Best Buy theres a line at the Geek Squad. I partially blame the publics for not doing their own research or just plain being dumb. I really feel the test would of been more fair and definitely more realistic should they have thrown in a bad non-working hard drive. But overall great video.

I agree with about 90% of your statement Helicaon7007 but not with the statement that either ALL computer techs or ALL car mechanics are bad people and out to get you. It’s usually not the individual techie but administration higher up that set policies of abuse that the employee must follow if they want to keep their jobs.

A new power supply?!?!?! That guy should be thrown in jail! If it was the power supply the computer wouldn’t turn on at all. Any respectable shop wouldn’t charge anything for this. Even charging $59 is outrageous. It just goes to show how some computer techs are as bad as car mechanics.

Well, it’s ok, but i think that some people from this services can suggest to buy a new computer, because a IDE hard drives is pretty old.

But, i would take 2$ for fixing this problem.

the video is awesome. no matter how one speasks a langage. what really matter is if he is able to run the massage properly, and the message is clear. the people who are critisizing this video are people who only speak one language so they are illiterate, cause the illiterate people of the 21st centure are people who either speak one language or can’t make a computer work
