@cbgbigy if ur operating system is on the 50gb hard drive u gotta put a slave drive pin configuration on the 400gb and then it would use them in conjunction and then it would be a total of 450gb of memory on ur pc, im not sur if they show up seperate or the same in my computer (if ur using windows xp).

AColdDayInHell3 April 30, 2011 at 4:28 pm

chendo2299 April 30, 2011 at 10:08 pm

If your hard drive is not from the original computer, you may have to download the drivers, go to the manufacture’s website and look up your computer and download the drivers for the hardware you need.

SpyerX123 May 1, 2011 at 12:21 am

@maximuSario Yes there is, All you have to do is to change the position of the jumper to master

kevin26tx May 1, 2011 at 1:13 am

I try to do this, but I on my mother board the ATA IDE cable has only two plugs only- 1.- Goes to my Main Hard Drive and 2.- goes to my DVD/CD Burner so I don’t have an extra Plug what to I do ? (my Motherboard has only “Blue” Plug- do they make a ATA IDE “double insert” ?

notekkkk May 1, 2011 at 1:21 am

@B787YV this might be too late by now, but you could try right clicking on the drive and click explore.

Need help here!!!!!! I added the old hardrive to my new pc but when double click on my old computer’s name folder…it says Denied Access all my music are on my documents!!!

T0PHacker May 1, 2011 at 5:01 am

I would look up how to do a Multi-Boot. You could do that, but it sounds easier to do a multi boot than switch your hard drives every time you want to change your OS. The multi boot allows you to have two OS on the same hard drive. And to switch between them, you simply restart your computer and it prompts you to choose the OS.

d3monicCloud May 1, 2011 at 5:11 am

can u switch harddrives and install and new OS

WackoX1337 May 1, 2011 at 5:54 am

Jumper settings are only necessary if you have an IDE harddrive.

gerrimiah May 1, 2011 at 6:19 am

i love your hair

davchandler May 1, 2011 at 7:00 am

not what im looking for -.-

Johnkingx2 May 1, 2011 at 7:12 am

The only different is, you have to set master and slave for IDE hard drives, but you don’t have to for SATA hard drives because SATA cables can only hold one drive at a time. Not like IDE cables that can how two devices.
