There are many computer repair books and all cover the same material. The best and the one used by most schools is Jean Andrews text A+ Guide to Managing & Maintaining Your PC.

Certs do help make the difference with employers.

Converting between Decimal and Binary seems to be one thing i haven’t fully figured out I never thought to look at the 8 position as 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, and 1 not i need to burn that into my brain Great Tutorial I am about to take A+ Cert classes and these video tutorials will help me allot.

Most of this stuff I already know I just Need a dang Certification just to get a job. I’ve been studying Computers since childhood even learned C++, and built a few PCs.

You should have several years of senior network maintenance experience and be at a network analysts level to understand all that is required. Cisco certs CCNA and CCNP would help. Certification is achieved by taking the C|EH test after completing either training at an ATC (Accredited Training Center) or self-study.

What would i need to know to become a CEH?

frenchge March 21, 2011 at 10:26 pm

Computer and network maintenance require CompTIA A+ and Network+ training and certification for good entry employment opportunities servicing computers and networks. Cisco and Microsoft certifications could help you advance further. C++ and other programing languages are not necessary for servicing computers but would help if you are looking for a software creation job opportunity.

frenchge March 22, 2011 at 12:14 am

The CompTIA A+ certification is now required by most employers for entry level positions. Employers also have additional job training that they will provide for new employees..

This videos are great but the site is poorly organized, but I’ve spent hours trying to fathom out:
- which video starts and ends the series
- Are these videos expected to cover the material necessary for both the essentials and IT levels?
- I really miss some list of the videos, a Table of Contents, something!
Thanks.

The videos are part of a training program that I teach to help prepare students to take the ComTIA A+ certification for employment. There are also some videos that have troubleshooting tips and some that teach imaging for restoring the operating system. Over 90% of the problems are software related.
